When to Fish Is Better? (2)

We have discussed last time that if you want to find an appropriate time to go fishing, you should take seasons and weather into consideration. [When to Fish Is Better?(1)Today we will talk about other factors you should know about choose the right time for fishing.

1. The temperature
Different to human and other warm-blooded animals, all fish are cold-blooded, they can't keep their body temperature at a constant level, so the temperature of the surroundings can easily affect the fish’s movement. When the water temperature is too high or too slow, the fish will move much slower. Beginners always complain that they can hardly any catch fish in the later morning- early afternoon of summer and in the winter, and obvious that the water temperature is the reason.

If you really want to fish when the water temperature is too high or too slow, you should choose the right fishing lures or baits to use, and you should also know how fast or slow to work them. Please remember one thing: when the water is cold, move your fishing tackles slower; and when the water is warm, you can move the tackles faster.

 2. The tides
If you want to have a trip of offshore fishing, you must know how tides affect the fishing, and how to catch more fish by the tides. According to the experienced people, it is best to fish when the tide is rising or falling, as this change causes prey to move en-mass, and thus makes a great time for coastal fish to feed. It will be much harder if you are fishing during the low or high tide, because less water movement, and then less coastal fish to feed.

You can search the time of low and high tides in your area on the internet, such as Google "tide chart", then you will know how to avoid the low and high tides. If you want to fishing during the low or high tide, here are some suggestions for you:

  •   Search a shallow spot when you fishing during the high tide.
  •   Search a mud bank near a slough (an area with a depression in the bottom) if you are fishing during a low tide.
3. The light
Fish are affected by light in many ways. When you go fishing, you must know how light affect the fish’s movements. There are several well-documented studies show that fish prefer early morning and evening sun to the bright sun of midday. Because the Morning sun warms the shallows, creating more comfortable water temperatures for fish to feed. Late morning is best when the sun has had more of a chance to warm the shallows. This is particularly true during early spring in shallows with dark or mud bottoms because dark areas absorb heat more rapidly than light sandy bottoms.

In the midday, especially in the summer, the light will make the water temperature becomes much higher, so the fish always move to cooler, deeper waters to stay comfortable. In these conditions, deep fishing baits, rigs and lures are best

Choose an appropriate fishing time is just the first step, but each step can determine the success or failure. Successful fishermen always pay attention to every detail, because they know only when they prepare enough, they can catch more fish.
